Honda Malaysia is off to a rousing start of the year, with three models dominating the sales chart in the first half of 2024 (H1) – namely the City, HR-V, and the CR-V, as data from the Road Transport Department (JPJ) shows.
Year-to-date 2024 shows 6,072 units of the CR-V has found new owners thus far, a steady lead above the Proton X70. Speaking of which, at 2,808 units sold up till June, the aging X70 has also fallen behind the pricier Mazda CX-5 that has clocked 3,658 cars sold.
Sales of the CR-V was at its highest in March 2024, with 1,512 cars sold then – circa 205 units more than both the X70 and CX-5 could muster in the same month.
This three-way throwdown isn’t too close at its current juncture, though things could see a shake-up in the second half of the year, during which the 2024 Proton X70 facelift will go on sale.
It would be interesting to see how these models stack up against the Chery Tiggo 8 Pro, but the data is unavailable.
Four variants of the Honda CR-V are sold here, with prices ranging from RM 159,900 to RM 195,900. Meanwhile, the Proton X70 is priced from RM 98,900 to RM 123,800, and the CX-5, from RM 143,300 to RM 179,000.
