The Lucid Air Grand Touring has been added to the Dubai Police General Command, becoming the newest member of the ever-expanding fleet of vehicles for the department.
The new Air Grand Touring trim was welcomed into the fleet by His Excellency Lieutenant General Abdullah Khalifa Al Marri, the Commander-in-Chief of Dubai Police, and Faisal Sultan, Vice President and Managing Director of Lucid Middle East, earlier today.
Al Marri said the addition of the new EV into the Police Department’s General Command is just the latest step in the United Arab Emirates’ path to shift toward a green economy, which is part of the Dubai Quality of Life Strategy 2033 plan.

Sultan said:
“We are proud to support Dubai Police’s efforts to enhance its fleet of electric vehicles. In conjunction with the recent opening of our first retail showroom in the City Walk, we look forward to expanding our business in Dubai.”
The Lucid Air Grand Touring joins a Tesla Model 3, Model Y, and Cybertruck in the current fleet.
It is no surprise Dubai decided to incorporate another Lucid vehicle into the police fleet; the company is heavily backed by Middle Eastern entities, like the Saudi Arabian Public Investment Fund, which has pushed $6.4 billion into the automaker since 2018.
Lucid also operates a factory in Saudi Arabia, which opened in September 2023. The company hopes to start with an annual build capacity of 50,000 units.

Lucid’s production is still in its early phases, and although it still takes a loss on every vehicle it builds, it has the unique strength of what appears to be essentially limitless funds.
The PIF can afford to put nearly any amount of money into whatever it sees as a viable investment, so Lucid has the opportunity to roll out various trim levels of one vehicle early in its manufacturing strategy.
Simply put, this is an advantage other car companies simply did not have. Complexity in its first production model was enabled by strong financial backing.
The Lucid Air has gotten a lot of great reviews, even one from noted tech figure MKBHD, who said the Sapphire trim was the sedan in the world.
