The (F44) BMW 2 Series Gran Coupe (GC) is a sleek four-door coupe model designed to appeal to younger, first-time BMW buyers, much like its direct rival, the Mercedes-Benz A-Class sedan.
Offered in Malaysia in one variant, the BMW 218i Gran Coupe delivers a blend of style, prestige, and a lower entry point to the BMW driving experience, which has garnered considerable success in Malaysia thus far.
Today, used and pre-owned units of the BMW 218i GC start just above RM 130k, as advertised on the WapCar Cars for Sale page, meaning you can own one for the entry price of a new Honda Civic (FE). Tempted? Let’s take a closer look.

Earlier this year, BMW Malaysia introduced the BMW 218i GC Final Edition, which received key design updates, notably the M Shadowline package that finishes some trim elements in gloss black. It also has the M Sport rear bumper and 18-inch Y-spoke style 553 M bi-colour light-alloy wheels.
Inside, the Final Edition received a wireless charging pad and a 10-speaker audio system. The Final Edition is priced at RM 244,400, inclusive of the 5-year extended warranty and service package.
Why Should You Buy a Used BMW 218i GC?
The BMW 218i GC offers a relatively affordable entry point into premium BMW ownership. It is a relatively new model, with most used examples being less than 4 years old.
Additionally, you can still find pre-owned models that retain their original warranty, providing extra peace of mind, though these units are slightly more expensive.
Finally, like any BMW, the 218i GC is a joy to drive. The ‘B38’ 1.5-litre 3-cylinder engine offers punchy performance and has a decent track record for reliability, ensuring you’ll get many years of driving enjoyment.
Conclusion
It is wise to consider the model year and specific trim level that best fits your needs and budget. As always, getting a comprehensive inspection by a qualified mechanic or third party before purchase is advisable to ensure the vehicle’s condition.
